LINDA YOUNG
My husband, Lynn, and I grew up in Monterey Park, California. After high school, I became a clerk typist at the Los Angeles City Hall. I was there for 3 years before Lynn and I started our family.
In my Temple City Church, I was head of the "Souper Bowl" food drive contest every Super Bowl Sunday. The event was so popular I brought it with me to the Community Church. The food we collect goes to the Help Center.
Lynn and I found Idyllwild while on our honeymoon in Palm Springs and fell in love with this beautiful, small town. When we made our move, we promptly joined the Community Church and I became involved with the Women's Guild. In addition to overseeing the "Souper Bowl," I am one of the directors of the Thrift Shop which supports about 17 missionaries and Christian camps. I also lead "Operation Christmas Child" which sends boxes of goodies and a New Testament to children around the world.
I was born at home in a small town called Live Oak in North Florida and graduated from Suwannee High School. From there, I attended Aurora University, a private college in Aurora, Illinois founded by the Advent Christian Church.
I met Tim during my Sophomore year in school and we married during his Junior year. When Tim finished school we moved to Pasadena with a 10-month-old daughter to be near his parents.
After two years in San Fernando Valley, in 1972, Tim was hired on at the Idyllwild Pines Camp. While there, he was accepted as a volunteer with the Idyllwild Fire Protection District and hired full-time two years later.
We became members of Idyllwild Community Church that same year and have been active in the Church ever since.
